About The Shanks
The Shanks are a premier classic rock cover band in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past 20+ years, we have played a variety of venues from opening acts for big concerts, outdoor festivals, as well as private and corporate events.
The Shanks have a rich music heritage that dates back many years. Members of the band have been in touring bands and professional troupes. As The Shanks, we have been honored as winners, and as runner-up, of the KFOX 98.5 "Last Band Standing" competition. This competition seeks to identify the best cover bands in the SF Bay area.
The Shanks name was derived from members of the band meeting on a golf course, of all places. In Rock n’ Roll as in golf, things sometimes don’t go as planned, thus prompting the name as a reference to a misdirected golf shot.
We thoroughly enjoy entertaining the crowd and, for us, it is all about our audience having a blast while we play songs from Van Halen, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, ZZ Top, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Bad Company, The Pretenders, Queen, Journey, Free, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Grace Potter and Clapton just to name a few.
